Your wedding day is a collection of fleeting, special moments - the quiet anticipation, the laughter, the tears, and everything in between.

  • I photograph weddings in a way that’s calm, considered, and importantly - unobtrusive.

You won’t find me turning your day into a production or asking you to “just laugh again but more naturally.” Weddings have their own rhythm, and the best moments tend to happen when everyone forgets there’s a camera in the room. My job is to notice those moments and quietly capture them as they unfold.

Of course, there’s a time to step in. Group photographs won’t organise themselves (sadly), and now and then a little direction helps keep things moving. But for the most part, I prefer to take a step back and let the day breathe.

  • I’ve spent years working in design and visual storytelling, which means I care about light, balance, and all the small details that give photographs a sense of permanence. I’m drawn to images that feel timeless, nothing overly stylised, nothing that will feel dated in a few years’ time.

Couples often tell me they don’t love being in front of the camera. That’s absolutely fine, most people don’t. With a relaxed approach and a bit of quiet reassurance, it usually turns out to be far easier (and quicker) than expected.

In the end, what you’ll have is a set of photographs that feel like your day, unforced, well-observed, and genuinely reflective of the people and the atmosphere that made it yours.

Sussex Wedding Photography That Captures the Real Moments

Relaxed, Natural Wedding Photography Across Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne, Chichester, Hastings and Beyond

From the rolling South Downs to the dramatic Sussex coastline, Sussex offers some of the most beautiful wedding locations in the UK. Whether you are planning a stylish city wedding in Brighton, a countryside celebration near Lewes, a coastal ceremony in Eastbourne or a relaxed barn wedding near Chichester, Peter Alden Photography provides natural, unobtrusive wedding photography that tells the story of your day honestly and beautifully.

I photograph weddings across East and West Sussex with a calm and relaxed approach, focusing on genuine moments rather than staged poses. Every wedding has its own atmosphere, rhythm and personality, and my aim is to capture the laughter, emotion, anticipation and quiet in-between moments that make your wedding uniquely yours. Couples often tell me they dislike being photographed, but with a discreet and friendly style, most quickly forget the camera is even there. (peteraldenphotography.co.uk)

Sussex is packed with incredible wedding venues and unforgettable backdrops. In Brighton, stylish seafront hotels, Regency architecture and vibrant streets create the perfect setting for modern wedding photography. Nearby, the South Downs National Park provides sweeping landscapes and beautiful golden light for romantic portraits. Historic towns such as Lewes combine charming period buildings with stunning countryside, while Hastings and Rye offer timeless coastal character with winding cobbled streets and dramatic sea views.

For couples planning weddings in Worthing, Bognor Regis or Arundel, there are endless opportunities for elegant photography, from historic castles and gardens to relaxed beachfront celebrations. The Sussex countryside is equally perfect for rustic barn weddings, marquee receptions and intimate country house ceremonies surrounded by rolling hills and woodland.

One of the great advantages of getting married in Sussex is the variety of locations available within a short distance. You can move from dramatic cliffs and beaches to woodland, vineyards or historic market towns in minutes. Even if the British weather has other ideas, Sussex still offers fantastic opportunities for atmospheric photography. Moody skies over the coast, soft mist rolling across the Downs or warm evening light after rain can create some of the most memorable images of the day.

My photography style is rooted in storytelling, balance and light. Years spent working in design and visual media have shaped the way I approach weddings, creating photographs that feel timeless rather than trend-driven. I prefer to let moments unfold naturally rather than interrupting the flow of the day with endless direction or awkward posing. (peteraldenphotography.co.uk)

I regularly photograph weddings throughout Sussex, including Seaford, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Haywards Heath, Horsham and across the wider South East. Whether your wedding is an intimate ceremony or a large celebration, I work quietly in the background to document the day as it truly happened.

You can see more recent weddings, behind-the-scenes moments and photography updates on my social media pages at Facebook and Instagram, where I occasionally share real weddings from across Sussex and the South East. (instagram.com)
